La Miniera is situated in Colonnata, a village of marble quarrymen
in the marble field of the Apuan Alps, above Carrara. Colonnata is
famous worldwide for its marble and "Lardo" - white
bacon - stored in marble tubs kept in the basements of the village
houses.
